Händel’s “Silla” (Premiere In Japan)
The opera “Silla,” written by Händel at age 28, has no record of being performed at that time. It is also an enigmatic piece whose presentation is exceedingly rare even in Europe. It is the much-awaited first performance in Japan presented by Europa Galante, a period-instrument ensemble led by Fabio Biondi, standard-bearer of Baroque music, and directed by Tadashi Miroku, who is also well-versed in Baroque music. It is a complete presentation by Europa Galante not yet seen around the world.
