All the splendour and majesty of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio – performed over two nights by the Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists and Sir John Eliot Gardiner at the beautiful church of St Martin in-the-Fields. This concert allies the ensembles’ deep understanding of Bachs’ music with the brilliance of a team of outstanding young soloists. “The range of Bach’s art, his imagination, and his creative response to different stimuli, is apparently endless,” says John Eliot Gardiner, as he shares with us the fruits of a lifetime’s immersion in music that can refresh any human spirit.
