Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 “Pastorale”
Composed over twenty-five years (from 1799 to 1824), Ludwig van Beethoven's nine symphonies represent a milestone in musical literature of all time. Beethoven wanted to follow a path that would lead him to new horizons. The symphony, born half a century earlier as a genre of pure sonic delight, in his hands would be transformed into the privileged means of communication for the musician's poetic and spiritual needs. It is music that speaks to all of humanity. The Beethoven Symphonies are directed by Zubin Mehta and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death.
