Salzburg Festival: Vienna Philharmonic, Yefim Bronfman & Andris Nelsons Perform Bartók And Mahler
The Vienna Philharmonic and Grammy Award-winning conductor Andris Nelsons continue their joint interpretative journey of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies at the Salzburg Festival with the Fifth Symphony that achieved great popularity through the extensive use of the Adagietto in the film “Death in Venice” by Luchino Visconti (already available: Symphonies Nos. 2, 3 & 6). In the first part of the concert, the orchestra and Nelsons join forces with the American-Israeli pianist Yefim Bronfman for Bartók’s Second Piano Concerto, one of the most demanding works in concert literature.
