Moses And Pharaoh

The story of the oppressed Hebrews' exit from Egypt, culminating in the famous crossing of the Red Sea, Moses and Pharaoh is a spectacular grand opera punctuated by plagues and prodigies: a work of unparalleled nobility and dramatic power, with striking choruses and demonstrative vocality. It is given for the first time at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, with prestigious newcomers: Michele Mariotti, a great specialist of the Italian 19th century, leads a very promising cast; Tobias Kratzer, who has received several awards for the intelligence of his rereadings, evokes the complex realities of the Mediterranean world today, between realism and utopia.
