Solidarity Concert For Ukraine
With a very moving solidarity concert the Konzerthausorchester Berlin reach out their hand to the Ukraine. Under direction of Christoph Eschenbach the program starts with the momentous piece “Prayer for the Ukraine” by the renowned Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. French cellist Bruno Philippe interprets Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 and the Konzerthausorchester Symphony No. 8, reflecting Shostakovich’s war experiences. For Eschenbach, the concert is a personal concern: “I am excessively shocked and disturbed about the situation in the Ukraine. I grew up during the Second World War and was a refugee child. Therefore, I know that the war leaves deep wounds.”
