The Treasure Hunter

  • Elisabeth Strid as Els, Daniel Johansson as Elis © Monika Rittershaus

Franz Schreker’s 'The Treasure Hunter' was a triumph at its world premiere in 1920, and was very frequently performed during the pre-war years. The story of Els and Elis explores the relationship between fantasy and reality, between art and life. Christof Loy, one of the most sought-after stage directors, continues his exploration of strong female characters in little known 20th-century works and once more teamed up with acclaimed conductor Marc Albrecht who masterly interprets the rich late romantic score leading the the orchestra of Deutsche Oper Berlin.
