Verdi’s Requiem: Inaugural Concert Introducing Fabio Luisi As NHK Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor

Fabio Luisi was appointed as the new chief conductor of NHK Symphony Orchestra effective September 2022. At the first concert marking his new role, Luisi conducted the huge opus “Requiem” by Giuseppe Verdi, a master who hails from Luisi’s native Italy. Four soloists who are making a mark around the globe, Hibla Gerzmava (soprano), Olesya Petrova (mezzo-soprano), René Barbera (tenor) and Kwangchul Youn (bass) appeared on stage. It has been touted as one of the best NHK Symphony Orchestra concerts in recent years.
