The Teatro Real opened its 2018/2019 season with a new production of Gounod’s famous Faust. Leading the Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid, the Israeli conductor Dan Ettinger places his talent and operatic experience at the service of two inspired singers: tenor Piotr Beczala in the title role, and soprano Marina Rebeka, a delightful Marguerite. After his recent success with The Flying Dutchman in this same theatre, the director, Alex Olle from Fura dels Baus, has placed the action in the modern era, with Faust working as the manager of a computer-research centre.
