Paavo Järvi Conducts Kullervo
The programme focusing solely on Sibelius is presented by the NHK Symphony Orchestra under the baton of its Chief Conductor Paavo Järvi. Järvi has felt strongly about Sibelius, one of the greatest composers of Finland that is geographically and linguistically close to his home Estonia. This recording features the symphonic poem Finlandia in a rare version with male choir and also Kullervo that depicts the Finnish ethnic epic poem in grand scale. Estonia may be called “a nation of choirs”, focusing on choir on a national scale. The Estonian National Male Choir will come to Japan to support Järvi with their dynamic voices.
