The Knight
Three masterpieces of the Germanic repertoire. Three composers aesthetically a priori different, and yet, it is the same retrospective look that the three composers included in the programme of this concert relate to the great Viennese tradition. Through striking melodies, Brahms signals an overwhelming farewell to the genre of the symphony. Strauss reconnects with the carelessness of imperial dances prior to 1914. As for the Concerto by Berg, the composer quotes a Bach chorale as a beacon of an endangered world.
