  • Pia and Pino Mlakar © RTV / TV Slovenija

Marking the centennial of Slovenian ballet, the 4-part series is dedicated to a most transient of arts, the profession of ballet artists, their body and the creation of different artistic worlds when interpreting various ballet roles. It chronicles the history of this intangible cultural heritage, from the second half of the 18th century when Ljubljana hosted the first ballet performances by traveling Italian and German theatre companies, to the first Slovenian ballets, ballet soloists and choreographers. A hundred years ago, in 1918, the first professional ballet ensemble was established in Ljubljana, followed by the heyday of ballet, a period of vigour that has continued to this very day.
