  • Tannhäuser © Bayreuther Festspiele / Enrico Nawrath

Tannhäuser marked Tobias Kratzer's glorious debut at the Bayreuth Festival 2019. His visually stunning, psychologically profound and sociopolitically rousing staging was enthusiastically celebrated by both critics and the audience. Celebrating their debut at the mystical orchestra pit, too: conductor Valery Gergiev and Lise Davidsen (starring as Elisabeth). Stephen Gould (Tannhäuser), Elena Zhidkova (Venus) and Markus Eiche (Wolfram) have also been part of the top-class ensemble.
