Maurizio Pollini: The Late Beethoven Piano Sonatas 30, 31 & 32

  • Maurizio Pollini © Mathias Bothor / DG

Maurizio Pollini returns to the Herkules Hall in Munich for the recording of Beethoven's Late Piano Sonatas No. 30, 31, 32. This is exactly where the legendary, sharply contoured and technically flawless studio recordings were recorded. In his career spanning sixty years, Pollini has always made himself scarce in the media. He is shy, serious, and reluctant towards all marketing mechanisms. Therefore capturing Pollini’s latest performance is really something. The concert is supplemented by an interview with Maurizio Pollini, shot in his hometown Milan, in which he talks to Jörg Widmann about his approach to Beethoven and contemporary music.
