Scarlatti In Versailles

  • © Bel Air Media

The theatre of the Queen Marie-Antoinnette, in the estate of the petit Trianon in Versailles, is a one-of-its-kind, entirely preserved 18th-century theatre. A relic of the past which has survived until today. The whole machinery of the theatre has been stopped. The hall is completely empty. The theatre seems abandoned. The lights of the venue are progressively turned off. Then, the curtains finally open. We discover a grand piano and a pianist. The past becomes present again. Now, the music can start: 10 sonatas by Scarlatti. In the end, the curtains fall, the lights are turned off again, and everything goes back to black.
