The Group Of Six
A rare document about a loose association of composers in pre-war Paris. Germaine Tailleferre, Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud and Francis Poulenc used to meet a the the studio of a painter friend to discuss life and and talk about their work. Georges Auric told anecdotes about Eric Satie while Jean Cocteau and Virgil Thompson listened in. Francis Poulenc, who was to pass away a few weeks later, explained that it was not a common aesthetic that held them together but just friendship. We meet artists who left very few audiovisual traces and listen to their music.
