XVI. International Tchaikovsky Competition
One of the most important events of the classical music scene, this legendary competition is marked by the victories of the virtuosos it has brought into the spotlight. The event has taken place once every four years since Van Cliburn’s historic victory in 1958, and this is its 16th edition. From 17 to 29 June in Moscow and St. Petersburg, 228 competitors competed for the First Prize and the Grand Prix (awarded only three times in the competition's history)! The groundbreaking 2019 edition marks the arrival of two new instrument families: woodwinds and brass join piano, violin, cello, and voice.
