Judith

  • © Wilfried Hösl / Bayerische Staatsoper

In this opera director Katie Mitchel combined the Concerto for Orchestra (Sz 116) for the very first time with Duke Bluebeard's Castle by Béla Bartók. The result: a completely new opera event at the Bavarian State Opera: Judith. During the concert a film is shown, which tells the prehistory of the opera. Judith, acting as an undercover agent, is determined to convict the brutal murderer Bluebeard. This opera resembles a Scandinavian thriller, starring Nina Stemme and John Lundgren. Oksana Lyniv conducts the Bavarian State Orchestra.
