Aleksandrs Antoņenko, Raimonds Pauls & The Latvian Radio Big Band: The Summer Season Opening Of The Dzintari Concert Hall

The opening of the 2020 season of the open-air Concert Hall Dzintari was special for two reasons. First, the outstanding tenor Aleksandrs Antoņenko, the legendary composer Raimonds Pauls, and the Latvian Radio Big Band met on the stage for the first time. Secondly, because of the pandemic restrictions, there was no audience. Besides favorite opera hits, Antoņenko also interpreted the cycle Pearl Diver by Pauls and songs with lyrics by the Russian poet Yevtushenko. Pauls' theatre and cinema music revealed an unknown facet of Antoņenko’s talent – the ability to feel at home in untypical arrangements together with a jazz big band.
