Astor Piazzolla: The Years Of The Shark

  • Astor Piazzolla © Daniel Rosenfeld

On the occasion of the Piazzolla Year 2021 – Astor Piazzolla would have turned 100 on 11 March: A documentary with extraordinary and previously unpublished material about the “world's foremost composer of tango music”. Being a virtuoso bandoneonist, Astor Piazzolla revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style termed nuevo tango, incorporating elements from jazz, classical music as well as experimental sounds, thus creating a new and individual musical language. It was from these heterogeneous and rebellious elements that he single-handedly produced a unique sound under the drastic pulse of his tango.
