Dalibor

The television recording of Bedřich Smetana's opera Dalibor presents on screen a spectacular production reflecting the historical events during the rule of Vladislav II, King of Bohemia (1456 – 1516), yet the plot is rather centred around a romantic legend of a knight who in jail learns how to play the violin. The opera is staged in Czech, starring the internationally acclaimed bass-baritone Adam Plachetka (King Vladislav) and other leading Czech and Slovak soloists, including Michal Lehotský (Dalibor), Jiří Brückler (Budivoj), Dana Burešová (Milada) and Jaroslav Březina (Vítek).
