Martin Scorsese – The Music Buff
Scorcese was born in Little Italy, New York, with music pouring out of every window. No wonder that he has become one of the very few film directors deeply influenced by music which he uses in his films to create atmosphere and emotions. He fondly remembers Bernard Hermann's polite refusal “I don't write music for taxi drivers”, and how the latter was finally persuaded to compose the sound track for Scorcese's Palm d'Or winning Film. We also hear how much film and opera have in common.
