Christian Thielemann Conducting The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra – Salzburg Festival 2021

Christian Thielemann is internationally renowned as expert on Richard Wagner. But since his performance of Bruckner's 8th Symphony with the Sächsische Staatskapelle in Dresden in 2009, Thielemann's Bruckner interpretations have also been going around the world. With the Vienna Philharmonic he has embarked on a new cycle of Bruckner symphonies. At the 2021 Salzburg Festival Bruckner's 7th Symphony, probably his most successful and popular composition, was performed. The evening was rounded off with the Rückert songs by Gustav Mahler, with Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča taking over the vocal part.
