Soundtreck Europe – Portugal

Soundtreck Portugal tells about how folk music frees itself from political instrumentalization, turns into a musical moment that shapes identities and how it breaks genre boundaries, especially nowadays. We learn what it means for the musical development of a country if it is isolated from the rest of the world and which sources of inspiration arise from open borders. We get to know the versatility of Portuguese soundscapes, from the living tradition of Cante alentejano to Electronical Beat Fado, Hip-Hop Tuga, folk jazz and postcolonial world music.
