Takemitsu Alone – 25 Years Since Toru Takemitsu Departed

In 2021, the 25th year since Toru Takemitsu (1930–1996) passed away, Japan was in the midst of the pandemic. When people are encouraged to stay home and are likely to turn to music, the music by Takemitsu touches our hearts all the more. His friends performed a variety of music including guitar solos of the Beatles songs, a flute solo commemorating Isamu Noguchi, and a duo on the motif of the whale. The event was held at a stone garden created by Noguchi and known as “Heasen” located inside the Sogetsu Hall, a place associated with Takemitsu. The event was recorded in 4K images and 5.1 surround sound.
