Opera Lokys (Bear) By Bronius Kutavičius
Bronius Kutavičius (1932-2021) is one of the most famous Lithuanian composers. He wrote a lot of music for films as well as for concert halls. His opera "Bear" (Lokys) was written in 2000 and staged in the same year at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and performed till 2007. In 2022 Klaipeda State Music Theatre invited famous theater director Gintaras Varnas to stage it again for the composer's 90th anniversary. The story is like a mystic thriller based on XIX century french writer Prosper Merimee's book where he tells a bloody wedding story of a half bear/half man creature.
