Is love able to transgress the border between the innocent world of fantastical creatures and the corrupt world of humans? Rusalka is not only a romantic tale inspired by Czech ballads, but also an absolute summit of opera: Dvořák, the admirable symphonist, shows us his skill for staunch lyricism so deeply rooted in the earth. This new production by Stefano Poda, talented image weaver, brings together an exceptional cast based around the first Rusalka by the great Romanian soprano Anita Hartig. Under the magistral direction of Frank Beermann, Dvořák’s opera is being performed for the very first time at the Opéra national du Capitole.
