Wolfgang Rihm 70th Birthday Celebration Concert

On occasion of Wolfgang Rihm’s 70th birthday the BR „musica viva“ scheduled a selection of iconic Rihm works. Lawrence Power and Nicolas Altstaedt are the soloists at „Erster Doppelgesang“. The disrupted texts which reflect the schizophrenic state of mind of the poet Adolf Wölfli are set to music in the „Wölfli-Lieder“, sung by Georg Nigl.Magdalena Hoffmann, the orchestra’s solo harpist, is soloist at the harp concerto „Die Stücke des Sängers“. Rihm’s orchestral work IN-SCHRIFT is an extraordinary acoustic experience since it was initially composed for the architectural setting of San Marco of Venice. The BRSO plays under the direction of Ingo Metzmacher.
