Wiener Philharmoniker & Christian Thielemann: Bruckner Symphony No. 8

  • Christian Thielemann © Terry Linke

Christian Thielemann and the Wiener Philharmoniker continue their Bruckner cycle at the Musikverein with Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8, hailed by the press as "extraordinary" (Die Presse). Bruckner’s Eighth, which evokes the musical idiom of Beethoven and Wagner, is the symphony that the composer himself regarded as his "opus summum". Thielemann and the orchestra perform stunningly: "It couldn't be better and more ravishing" (Kurier). (Cat. no.: A 040 50121)
