Beethoven – The Complete Quartets By The Ebène Quartet – Part IV
In this programme, the Quatuor Ebène explores the two extremes of Beethoven's production: Opus 18 No. 6 from 1801 and Opus 132 from 1825. The latter was actually composed before Opus 130, and includes a miraculous long slow movement. "People have a high opinion of the quartet. It is supposed to be the greatest and most beautiful quartet I've composed, so they say...", Beethoven wrote to his publisher.
